Development & build server

A server for remote development with VS Code and builds and tests with Docker

Run and build your code on a server instead of your PC. Edit with VS Code Remote-SSH just as if you were opening files on your own PC, and bring your development environment back up exactly as it was with Docker.

Remote development with VS Code

Open and edit the server's files with the Remote-SSH extension, and use the server's terminal as is.

The same environment with Docker

Set up your development and test environments with Docker and Compose, and you can bring them back up in the same state anytime.

Run automatically on a schedule

Schedule jobs like builds and backups with cron, and keep work going with screen or tmux even after you disconnect.

How to get started

  1. Step 1

    Choose a plan

Builds and compiles use a lot of cores and memory. Start with 8GB of memory or more, and see the CPU guide for core performance.

  2. Step 2

    Order with Ubuntu

Choose Ubuntu as the operating system. The Linux commands in the user guides are based on Ubuntu.

  3. Step 3

    Connect with VS Code

Register your SSH key and connect with VS Code Remote-SSH, and you can start developing right away.

FAQ

Can I pull code from GitHub and deploy it?
Yes. The web app deployment guide shows how to pull from GitHub, run it 24 hours a day, and connect a domain.
Can several people use it together?
Just create a Linux account for each person. Adding accounts, sudo privileges, and sharing folders are covered in the ‘Creating server accounts’ guide.
Can I check the server's performance myself?
After receiving the server, you can use the benchmark guide to compare single-core and all-core performance and disk speed the same way.
Does turning off the server lower the price?
No. Billing is in 30-day periods, so it's the same even if the server is off. If you won't use it anymore, just don't renew.
