Nevv account security — setting up two-factor authentication (OTP)

Your server connection info and payment features are all tied to your Nevv account. We recommend making sure two-factor authentication is on, so your account stays protected even if your password leaks.

What is two-factor authentication?

When you log in, in addition to your password, you enter a 6-digit code shown in an authenticator app on your phone. The code changes every 30 seconds, so a password alone isn't enough to log in.

How to set it up

  1. Install an authenticator app on your phone. (Any app is fine, such as Google Authenticator, Authy or Microsoft Authenticator)
  2. Go to Dashboard → Account settings tab.
  3. In the "Two-factor authentication (2FA)" card, click Start 2FA setup.
  4. Scan the QR code on the screen with the authenticator app.
  5. Enter the 6-digit code shown in the authenticator app and click Verify.
  6. When the top of the card changes to "Enabled", you're done.

From then on, after you enter your password when logging in, you'll see the "Enter the 6-digit code shown in your authenticator app" screen.

Before changing phones or deleting the authenticator app

If you lose the authenticator app, you won't be able to log in. There are no separate recovery codes, so be sure to do one of the following.

  • Disable two-factor authentication before changing phones, then set it up again on the new phone
  • Use an authenticator app that supports cloud backup (Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.)

If you've already lost the authenticator app, you won't be able to log in, so instead of chat support, contact us through the Discord or KakaoTalk channel at the top of the site.

How to turn it off

Click Disable 2FA on the Account settings tab and enter your current password to turn it off.

Check your password too

  • If you use the same password as on other sites, change it under Account settings → Change password. (8 characters or more)
  • Your Nevv account password and your server login password are two different things. For server-side security, see Basic server security setup.

If your problem isn't solved, open a ticket on our Discord.
