Connecting to a Windows server with Remote Desktop (RDP)
Here's how to connect to your newly created Windows server with Remote Desktop (RDP). You can find the connection info (IP, account, password) in the "Connection info" card under Dashboard → server details.
Connecting from Windows
- Press
Win + Ron your keyboard to open the Run dialog. - Type
mstscand press Enter. (The Remote Desktop Connection app opens.) - Enter the server's IP address in the Computer field and click "Connect".
- Enter the username and password. (The login ID / password from your Dashboard)
- If a certificate warning appears, click "Yes" to continue.
The certificate warning on your first connection is a normal notice; it appears because the server uses a self-signed certificate.
Connecting from macOS
- Install the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from the App Store.
- Open the app and click "Add PC".
- Enter the server's IP address in PC name and save.
- Double-click the saved server and enter the account/password to connect.
Common problems
- I can't connect — First check on your Dashboard that the server status is "Running". You can't connect to a stopped server with RDP.
- It says my password is wrong — Copy the password from the connection info on your Dashboard again, carefully, and enter it. It's case-sensitive.
- I need to set the resolution or share the clipboard — Under "Show Options" at the bottom of the mstsc window, you can fine-tune the display size and local resources (clipboard, drive sharing, etc.).
