Choosing a network (zone) — KT-A / KT-B / Security Zone
When you order a server, you choose its network (zone). Here are the differences between the three options.
KT-A General Zone / KT-B General Zone
This is the standard network, suitable for general use. The two networks have identical terms; only the physical network path where the server is placed differs. Unless you have a particular reason, either one is fine.
- Includes the base traffic that comes with your plan
- Ready to use right away, with no extra setup
Security Zone
An option for services that need protection from DDoS attacks. Traffic is filtered through Cloudflare.
- There's no included traffic. Inbound/outbound traffic is billed separately for the amount you use.
- You can set your expected traffic (inbound/outbound GB) in advance when you order.
- If you proceed with traffic set to 0, a warning appears that you may not be able to use the service smoothly once it's running because of insufficient traffic. If you can't estimate how much traffic you'll actually need, we recommend setting at least a minimal margin.
Which should I choose?
- Typical websites, bots, small services → KT-A/KT-B General Zone
- Game servers open to the public, services that have been hit by DDoS attacks before, services where stable uptime is important → Security Zone
The zone you choose can't be changed after the server is created, so consider the nature of your service first and then choose. If you want to change it later, see Moving to a new server.
The order page says "Sold out"
When all available slots on a network are taken, it's shown as "Sold out" on the order page and can't be selected. The KT-A and KT-B General Zones have the same terms, so if one is sold out, just choose the other. A sold-out network can be selected again once slots open up.
What happens if I run low on traffic?
When you've used 80% of your daily traffic allowance, we'll let you know by email. You can buy more traffic right from the server details page in your Dashboard. For details, see the guide to checking traffic usage and buying more.
